Competition Report
Stewart Forbes proved to be the man in form but fell at the final hurdle. Having to play a prelim round against Azam Khan and a feat in itself. He survived, coming from 6-9 down with 2 mins to go to draw level on points just as time was called to taking it to sudden death, winning 10-9.
Peter Graham came up against hard hitting Terry O'Neill and knocked him off his stride with some precision volleys, taking the match 22-20.
Highlight of the next round was again Stewart Forbes knocking out number 1 John Campbell with grit and determination winning 26-23
In the semi-finals Jim McGinelay was pushed all the way in a hard fought close match by dad to be Simon Fraser with Jim edging through to the final by the closest of margins 7-6.
In the other semi final Stewart Forbes kept up winning ways beating Peter Graham 30-21.
The final was an enthrawling affair between two form players. Stewart raced into a 7-2 early lead after being 2-0 down. Jim rallied and slowly pegged it back to 7-7. Stewart regained the initiative going 8-7 in front just as the two minute warning sounded. This sparked another huge effort from Jim winning three quick points giving him the edge going into the dying seconds...true to form the comeback kid Stewart came back again after a lung bursting twenty shot rally pegged it back to 10-9 but time finally ran out....Jim winning 10-9.
We would like to thank all the players, and markers for their efforts tonight.
